Tip #2: Quick associate a label to a field

As you may notice, I will periodically share a Uniface tip with you. Some big, some small. Some obvious, others hopefully a surprise. But usually somewhere in between. Although sometimes you can be fooled by it. When you think something is obvious and then it turns out to be different.

I recently surprised a very experienced Uniface professional with this tip. Which I thought everyone would know by now.

On a FORM component you define widgets and these widgets often have a label. That label is associated with the widget it belongs to. They have the same name. So far, nothing new.

A quick way to get that done:

  1. Draw the widget or field. Give it a name.
  2. Select the label template, but start drawing it on the GFP from the widget. So as if you were dragging the label out of the widget.
  3. Uniface will associate label and widget to each other.

Not Rocket science perhaps, but you never know. ?
